Well, if you have any problems with it, feel free to contact me, I've worked with PHP scripts before, I might be able to lend a hand ;).

Sounds pretty decisive ;) You should let Firebrand pimp it out so you can show it off. /$0.02

The software that's going to be in use for it is somewhat decided on already, though it is not final yet.

It should have one of these: http://progphp.com/progress.php

google "APC_UPLOAD_PROGRESS"

I'd kind of like to do an uploader for it actually...

There aren't any decent file hosting programs done, but I've worked with file uploading "forms", it's simply a PHP script that allows anyone with permissions to upload files (or certain file types) to a preconfigured destination in the web server, I don't know if that might help or not, then simply checking for files dates and activity could determine which files get deleted (if any ;).

hmm, this would be a good idea.
although, i am wondering what the file limits are (both size and amount), and if there is any download time, and if the file gets deleted if not downloaded (like zshare)

I'm considering starting a file hosting / sharing service on DRD Team, because I'm tired of clicking on Rapidshare and Mediafire et al links and finding files not there, or blocked access to because they've been downloaded a certain number of times, yaddy yadda it's bull, I think, and those sites majorly suck.

Anyway, I'm opening this thread, because 1) I'd like to get to know what your opinions would be about such a service, and 2) I also would like to know if anyone has any experience with existing software that allows a webmistress to host such a service.

I am eager to read your comments!
