Graf Zahl: you can say that if you want, neither of us are lawyers so it will not come to anything anyway. The only important thing is that EDoom is unambiguously legal, and since it uses only previously GPL code/my code (which is also GPL), it is.

Anyway, this is the Doom Reborn thread, not the EDoom thread :)

ZDoom is not illegal. None of the licenses it uses conflict with each other - but some conflict with the GPL (which is why it isn't GPL.) If you count Raven's license that has been invalidated by Raven itself - the proof is somewhere on the web but I don't have the link ATM.

Not a ZDoom derivative, I think "ZDoom is illegal and I'm not using its code" is on the site a few times. I have someone to port it to Win32 (I have no skills in that area.)

Heh AFAIK he was recoding all the features from scratch or something like that.

Enjay, No he is getting somebody else to code a windows version.

And GPL? You can't make a ZDoom derivative that is GPL.

EDoom is under development, check out http://sourceforge.net/projects/edoom. Doom Reborn has got a pretty good team, and now that i've put up forums (forrems really) I hope we'll be much more organized. We've got a nice range of mapping styles, from my hardcore minimalism (I am a hardcore minimalist) to Destroyer's weird Doom 3-ish style, and now that we've recruited NMN as an artist, we'll have some good new monsters too. I think we'll do pretty well :)

I dunno if any of you have heard of this project but anyway, Doom Reborn is basically a remake of The Ultimate Doom in the EDoom source port (EDoom is a sourceport by Ray/Edward that is all the ZDoom features plus much more) it is the original levels with much more detail, new rooms, and harder gameplay. There forums/site is here. Some screenshots of the first level are here
Enjoy!
