This patch has been discussed on
DW (and ZDoom forums), but in case anybody's been living under a rock for the last few months: the EXE and WAD files of DOOM2 V1.7A and V1.7 are the only physical differences between them; used with FunDuke's 1.9 -> 1.666 patch, one can generate all release DOOM2 versions from V1.9.
I fixed it so that one may patch only the WAD/EXE if you want. Other than that, there's little that can be done for the forseeable future about the other issues -- without spending money I haven't got

So this will have to do for "version 1"
