Thanks to Randy at the ZDoom forums, the last and final barrier that's stopped the board upgrade for so long has now been broken. He gave me some code that he used on his News page on ZDoom.org, and after a few hours of playing with it, I managed to convert 3 sites to the new format which now pulls from the phpBB3 forums.
The one thing that will be lost in this upgrade will be the sub-topics. If there is a really high demand for them, I may install a mod to put them back in, but it is my preference to keep the new forum as vanilla as possible. (It's a lot easier to fix things when they break, not to mention version upgrades...)
Anyway, the converted CMS's include the following:
DRD Home Page,
GZDoom, and
GrubberSoft.
