No, Graf was right. YOU fail it. Took me only 30 seconds to fix the sprite with Photoshop.

If you're absolutely having so much trouble learning how to save files with transparency using IrfanView or The GIMP or whatever, and you don't know how to read Help files, just e-mail the programs' authors or post on their forums or something. I wouldn't know how to help you since I don't use that kind of crap on my computer so you're better off finding help from people who DO use them.

i've never created sprites & i don't know which format you need to save in (i assume png since transparency is involved) but i've used ps & gimp for years & i could tell you that gimp AND ps have an option to save transparency with an image....

God people, making a transparent texture or even a sprite is rather simple, stop being so lazy, first off, get a program like GIMP or Photoshop, I prefer power.. So I went with Photoshop, now copy the image you're going to use, or even click and drag the image onto Photoshop's window and it'll open, you copy it (CTRL+C), go to File -> New, and for background, choose "Transparent". When you get in, simply press CTRL+V and TADA. Its in, but wait... its still black (or Cyan). Okay, cool... now take the Magic Wand tool, Anti-Aliasing Off, Contagious on, click on the black / cyan space and TADA! Its selected.. now press the DEL key on your keyboard then save, and you have a transparent sprite / texture...

Does not include fixing or think your fixing DooM's textures... Photoshop is an expensive program. Procedure to not follow these simple instruction will result in your ultimate death. Consult your doctor before use.

Congratulations on bumping a month-old thread to try and convince a stubborn man (who, might I add, hasn't even been on the forum since posting in this thread). Not that I'm trying to make a fool of you - I'm just convinced that, while valiant, your attempts are probably fruitless.

Like with everything, it is easy when you already know how to do it. When you have never done it before and nobody tells you what to do, it is damned hard!

In Paint Shop pro, you use the Right Mouse button to select your background color. So, basically you will use your Icon that lets you absorb a particular color and right click on your back ground.

Next you will create a new image at the size you want, then you will click within the new area then hold down CONTROL, SHIFT and E, and this will paste image with a transparent background...

...at least I'm pretty sure those are the short cut keys. I've not been working on my project for a few weeks, and I'm not at home, but that should set you straight, or if someone will be kind enough to post the methods you use in a free program like GIMP, that might be more useful to you.

--- EDIT---

I almost forgot, you'll want to be sure to save as transparent too.
