Sir_Alien, what is really a mess is your behaviour and the way you're talking to me.

solarsnowfall, "the whole "text aka image" thing is pretty pointless", but not completely pointless, right? I have the use of the users... Please, let me decide of what is pointless and what is not. Do believe me: after 7 years, I know that we have to underline obvious points... Thank you a lot for your friendly comments.

Zeg-Vok, you understood me perfectly well with "it might be best to conserve your bandwidth for the things that really count", which is an answer to Sir_Alien, who knows visibly nothing about bandwidth and the work of a webmaster... Of course, it's not with a quasi empty site that you can have good advises about the way to manage a site and users... Many aspects of his behaviour look cheap and "thrown together".

Paul, I'm perfectly aware that I'll have to manage better my site when its content will begin to be a problem for the navigation, which is not the case for now, like you underline it.
I accept criticism when it's friendly done... Yours is always very pleasant, and constructive, and you know how to manage susceptibilities.
Of course, I agree 100%: web pages can be improved further!!!
And no offense: I'm a poor frenchie, without anybody to help me to talk and to write correctly. The last time I learned english was 35 years ago, and I had to make a huge effort of memory when I came on the net. So, OF COURSE, my english IS rather godawful at some parts...

I have to agree with nearly everything Sir Alien and the others had to say.
The design of your site is a complete mess and very hard to navigate for most people because it's so unintuitive. I had the same problem with your old Legacy related size which was the main reason I never bothered to look at its contents. The new one got the exact same reaction out of me. It's not fun to browse through it.

Anyway: Last warning, especially to Jive. If you shout one more time at someone who disagrees with you I'll lock this thread. (The same applies to everyone else as well of course.)

You're melting "intuition" with "use". You are used to navigate conventionnal sites, and mine aren't.
Ok, let me tell you that I received numerous emails applauding me for the pleasure and the simplicity to navigate on DLW, and I have the detail of the votes: more than 85% of my visitors are very happy with it, and nobody has already complained because of the difficulty to navigate, but the contrary.

During those pretty 7 years of existence of DLW, you can easily imagine how many emails I have received. Do you really believe that "a mess" could have bring as many users on my site?!?

And if you are right to tell me that my sites are a mess (what an horror to tell it to someone making a gift of his time), I will think that my users and me, we like this kind of mess...

I don't shout at you because you disagrees with me, but because I was coming with a gift, but you're telling me that I done a complete mess... Instead of thanking me, you criticize it negatively.

I've had enough of this nonsense.

I'm very sorry to have bumped this but after some reconsideration (yep, I do care about internet folks' feelings) I tought something oughta be said here.

This conversation could have had a much different outcome if both sides (Jive and those who commented on his website) perhaps approached with less nerves. For future I encourage Jive not to put so much nerves into conversations nor get carried away until a sane talkabout turns into a drama. Those who provide criticism may not necessarily be sarcastic buttheads, and I know Sir_Alien is definitely not.
I recomend coping with others' opinions, wether they are good or bad, and filter out crap from constructive comments, caring only about the latter one.

I also plea everyone else to provide criticism in the most friendly and calm way possible, stating it's your opinion, so we can get along together and/or avoid having to lock topics.
