Hello.
I need help with using openGL mode. When I try to change it from software mode to opengl mode, the screen refreshes, but it doesn't say opengl mode.
Did I miss something?

It changes when GZDoom starts up again.

If it doesn't change it means that it couldn't initialize OpenGL, most likely because the graphics card can't handle it. What card do you have?

I don't know really what my graphics card is and to be honest, I don't know how to check it out.

Here's the foolproof way to check.
- Right click on your desktop and select Properties.
- Click the Settings tab.
- Click the Advanced button in the lower right corner.
- Select the Adapter tab on the window that appears.
- At the top of the window, in the section labelled "Adapter Type", should be the name of your graphics card.

Thanks. Now, I have two computers:
The old one says: RADEON 7000/RADEON VE family (Microsoft Corporation)
The new one: ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 Series
Are both of these good enough; are neither good enough; or is one of them better than the other?
Thanks.

The old one probably needs a new driver. If it says Microsoft you may have a driver installed that doesn't support OpenGL.

Thanks, man.
How bout the newer one, is that one openGL compatible?

It should be if the correct driver is installed. Why don't you just check it?

If you mean attempt to run GZDoom on my new computer, then yep, I'm gonna try it in a bit. Otherwise Doom will rain on me for every good mod that requires openGL mode (just kidding, but yeah, I wont be able to play openGL mode mods on my home computers

)
It's so stupid though, there's no one in my town who plays Doom like me who has ZDoom/GZDoom who can test openGL mode.
Oh well...

Damnit!!
Well, the newer comp does have openGL, but when I resize my GZDoom screen this is what i get:
Anyone know how to fix this?

Oh yeah, if anyone noticed, you can see weird, blue-colored monsters mixed up in there.

Looks like another one of those ATI graphics card problems.

The ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 Series is not just a graphics chip but ATI's entry into the chipset market. The ATI - NVIDIA battle continues ...
@GZDUser: Since that chipset is definitely OpenGL capable, you might try to change the resolution to a lesser setting. like 640x480.
If that helps, then gradually increase the resolution. I usually play at 1024x768.

Oh, well, I usually play using 320x200.
