to make colored sectors like the PSX version of doom?
I've been tryin to figure it out for awhile now and want to know
if it can even be done.

First of all, use ZDoom (Doom in Hexen Format).
Then check the wiki:

It can actually be done in Doom format too usint the static_init line type
