Any news on this?

If you have a (or more than one) project leader selected, I can go ahead and make some private forums and FTP space available for you, and the project leader will be able to recruit new folks and give them access to the forum.

A megawad is not very logical, if you consider the amount of active mebers on this community willing to map. But, a episode of 9 maps called "The DRD Community Project" could get somewhere.

KDiDRD

All jokes aside, I could probably help out (Not leading though), even though I don't post very much.

I will contribute a map if needed, but I would not lead as I have alot of other projects to work on.

I don't really see this working too well. Maybe I'm cynical in regards to community projects, but it seems like they always end up taking too long with too small of a result.

Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do this.

Don't get this wrong though: it is very hard to manage a successful community project, set goals and deadlines, and motivate people - but it CAN be done. People who are saying that "this won't work" have experience in other projects where this has not been successfully done - but if you keep to your objectives, you will succeed.

Start with a project that can be done by a single person, and as you add people, let it grow from there.

Marry me? lol

Ok, seriously....

I had two different experiences recently, one of them with a great community project and the other with a personal project. Both well received!
So, nobody will discourage me/us to do something so easily. xD

I'll spend most of my free time on it and show something done in January!

Happy Holidays! :cheers:

Huge megawad is right out, this is not a huge community.

Making it a community project requires to establish some common ground. Such as:

* Base IWAD?
* Allowed resources?
* Target platform, i.e., Vanilla Doom, limit-removing, Boom-compatible, ZDoom-compatible, etc.
* Target game mode, i.e., single-player start-to-finish, single-player pistol starts, multiplayer coop, deathmatch, etc.
* Thematic elements for map design?

I mean, you won't go far if somebody provides a doom2.wad deathmatch map, somebody else a GZDoom-exclusive Hexen map, a third made a Doom 1 Eternity map full of linked portals, and a fourth made something for Doomsday/Risen3D full of models.
