I just checked the Options>Automap Options to see if there was anything in there that had been toggled off, but I couldn't find anything. The only possibility that I could see is that the Automap colors have been customized so that one-sided and two-sided linedefs are the same color as the background. If this is the problem you can fix it simply by resetting to the default colors.

Some cards seem to have problems with drawing hardware accelerated lines. If that's the case the automap will be empty.

Doom isn'r hardware accelerated. GZdoom is. Have you compared it to Zdoom (also not hardware accelerated).

I don't know the specifics of your card but it seems like its a pretty old one from the name/number. Usual question - are your drivers up to date?

Isn't the automap code in ZDoom handled by DirectX?

Yes, it is drawn with 3D line primitives.

I remember having this problem as well with a nVidia GeForce 5500 back in the day. I never really bothered with it though because I had a newer card on-hand (an ATI) that worked a lot better and did the lines properly anyway.

I once had a Geforce 5900 and never had problems with line drawing. Then again, I got rid of that card more than 5 years ago so who knows what has changed about the drivers...

You definitely don't want up-to-date drivers for this video card. The older the card gets, the more unreliable newer drivers become.

Anyways, I keep a FX5200 with an ancient driver solely for compatibility with paletted textures, and as of 4 months ago, the map function was working properly.
