Loading the Original Music in GZDoom

Scroll down to DOOM Music Recorded from a genuine Roland Sound Canvas SC-155.

I'm new to the whole Doom modding scene. And I don't care about making the game look better, I'd just like for the music to sound as it was intended to.

I know this is for Doomsday, but I don't really like that engine. Anyway I've tried with Doomsday, alot. It doesn't seem to work, manually with -file or the addons tab of kickstart, drag and drop...

I've tried compiling the .ogg files into a .pk3, zip, wad, and for whatever reason I can't seem to get it to work. I don't really care that much it's just I get frustrated and don't like to be defeated :)

Some of you might recommend Timidity, I have that and it's pretty close. I didn't load any soundfonts into it or anything because the installation alone was a serious pain in the ass.

Thank you so much for your time!!!!!!
At this point I'd like to just satisfy my own curiosity.
Thanks again!

How did you add them to a .pk3 file? Did you use the proper directory structure?

Probably not, for some reason I'm unable to grasp the whole pk3, command line, whatever. Especially for replacing the music. I'll admit I haven't tried very hard, since I've got another idea.
Graf Zahl, is there anyway we could get in touch? Just for a few questions.

For whatever reason, lately I LOVE Doom, but I wish the music could have some more...balls for lack of better words. And I don't mean hairband metal, more like industrial, modern sounding. I like some of Bobby Prince's music (especially "Hiding the Secrets") it's just got that like DOS midi sound to it, and I think if I could find the right soundfont, it could be a pretty decent soundtrack! I've been trying to compile a soundtrack out of my own collection of instrumentals but nothing seems to fit, way too particular.
I've never played Quake but I'm getting it now, and I've listened some of the soundtrack done by Nine Inch Nails, that's awesome! I'm not too crazy about his voice but his style, like if alot of his music were instrumentals I would love it. The original Quake looks too cool, probably because of John Romero.

Anyway back on topic, anyone that knows any soundfonts that sound great with DOOM please get in touch. I know of the SF2, Shauns soundfont. You can hear all of it here, http://www.youtube.com/user/yannickcare ... __JeecfCsM
I'm not too impressed...although this one doesn't sound too bad ^ But I guess it's better than nothing. I'll give it a shot tomorrow.
And Graf, you seem to be cool, so it would be great if I could talk to you.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

Edit: It's not TOO bad...but I'm sure there has to be others out there with a more realistic sound
Here's the first level,

Basically I'm looking for the OPPOSITE of these two:

http://www.youtube.com/user/yannickcare ... oW2xgsVr1U

If it wasn't part of the Doom soundtrack, does that sound like they would fit...at all?

I know that this post has been long winded and I'm giving a lot of examples here but this is a good one, how about a soundfont that strings and choruses sound real? http://www.youtube.com/user/yannickcare ... qA52Ti62bc

I suppose the ultimate would be a custom soundtrack. Take out the tracks that are just god awful and replace them with ones from different doom games, and pick which ones sound good with which soundfonts. But I don't think anyone would go through that much trouble.

And I know you may be thinking, maybe you should just get real renditions of these tracks, well they all sound very cheesy, and I like the original music it just needs a better soundfont.

Edit2: Holy shit I got it to work :) I managed to install everything right including timidity which is a SERIOUS pain in the ass. Just need to find an amazing soundfont. This one isn't too bad, SF2. It's just the drums aren't too great and a lot of the instruments sound artificial. Sounds like one guy playing a keyboard. I'm hoping to avoid that effect.
