I need some help with this. [Disappearing Keys in Co-op]

I don't know if this is a bug or just a setting, if it is a bug please put it in the BUG section.

I am trying to figure out how to keep keys from vanishing when the player picks them up. In older Doom ports playing Co-op, the key remains even after one of the players has picked it up. But one of the problems I have with GZDoom is that while playing Co-op when one of the players picks the key up it vanishes, and unless item respawn is set the key doesn't come back, and I was wondering if there is an actual in-game CVAR to correct this, or if its a program bug.

Does this happen in ZDoom as well? If yes, please report it as a bug there.

From my own testing, keys seem to stay just fine. If you're spawning keys, you should be aware that spawned items have no staying rules; their spawn copies are destroyed (or moved to player's inventory without a copy) the moment they're picked up. Only items that spawn with the map usually stay or respawn - although there are special ACS commands you can use on spawned items that make them behave as if they were map-spawned.

I do not know if that rule is appropriate for keys or not, but I suspect that the situation applies here with the lack of any further details.

Hi.
No I'm not spawning keys, the keys are the ones from the maps.

I also tested Zdoom and it doesn't have this problem.

I don't know how relevant this is, but my dmflags are 1063389204 and dmflags2 are 65536. Though I tested the same flags in Zdoom and there was no problem with the keys staying, so other then that I don't have much else to go by.

Just to check, you don't have any mods loaded do you? I just tried a coop game (activated by spawning a bot) with nothing other than doom2.wad loaded and the keys behaved correctly (ie did not vanish).

Nope. No mods. We were playing strictly from the base IWAD.

But now that I've tested it on my own, the keys do seem to stay in Co-op but only if I run the game on my home LAN. When my friend Boingo and I play over the internet, thats when the glitch occurs.

I haven't actually had a chance to test Zdoom over the internet just GZDoom because thats the port he always uses. He says he'll be back sometime today, so I will see if he can help me test on that as well.

Okay. Boingo and I have tested the game again. The problem doesn't show up in Zdoom, but it does in GZDoom. We tested Doom.wad and it had no problems in Zdoom. So it seems to be a problem in GZDoom.

Tested on GZDoom g1.8.1-252-g2885056 - not the latest version, I know, but it is more recent than this topic. I played on a LAN with two of my computers present. Played the base Doom2.wad with only a few custom add-ons, nothing that would affect the keys though, and the keys stayed just fine. I ran it off exactly the same path - over the network itself - to ensure that both versions loaded exactly the same resources. The only issue I had was the game crashed when I exited, but the keys still stayed.

Maybe you're using an older version?

edit: I have gone through a second time, a little more thoroughly, testing the same dmflags, and did not have the problem. Both computers were still running the same version of gzdoom.
