Is it at all possible to run a coop or deathmatch game using GZDoom as the engine? If so, how?

Yes. The easiest way is to use a launcher such as ZDL

So how would you set up a DM or Coop game that can be joined?
Just before Doom Connector shut down I tried to run ZDoom coop games, and ZDoom claimed that the other players "couldn't join in the middle of a game."

I suspect you can't. You'd need to use a port that adds that kind of support to Doom. Doom didn't have it originally and most ports haven't added it. Multiplyer specific ports (eg ZDaemon and Skulltag) however, have added it.

Dammit.
That majorly sucks.
Looks like I'm going to have to wait for Skulltag 97b.
Hopefully Carn will have 3d floors by then.
Hmm... ZDL has a "join" mode for the amount of players.
What does that mean?

I guess this will let the launcher know for how many players it will wait to connect before it starts the game. At least this was the case with the old Doom95 launcher.

You need to write some commands in command line. If you want to host server, write -host <number of players>. Then write -warp <map number>. If you want to play CO-OP, write -skill <skill number>. If you want to play deathmatch, write -nomonsters. To join server, just write -join <IP address>. Have fun!

Well that was a pointless bump.

What ingame joining? I'm sure Graf said somewher he has limited knowledge on netcode so we don't think it'll ever come.

Cant you just use Player Connector?

@Eriance:
The reason that I posted in the first place was that I had just tried to host a netgame on player connector, only to never have the thing start. GZDoom would just freeze in a blank HOM effect window and never even got to the menu.
