Using Flickering, Random Flickering, and Pulsing lights

Okay, I've been screwing around with dynamic lights, and the types listed in the title are giving me grief.
I know that the angle field is a hack to set up certain properties like flicker time, but I can't for the life of me figure out how it works, and as such I'm being forced to use nearly identical values when I want a non-static light in my levels. Sufficient, but boring.
Help on this please?
