GZDoom wont start!

GZDoom wont start!
Whenever I try to start GZDoom, it starts to load, but before it gets to the main menu, it freezes, forcing me to reboot my computer! And it doesn't give any sort of error log or anything.
Also, I'm running Windows ME.

I have been running Windows ME without any problems ever since it came out, go figure.
Try +logfile startup.txt on the command line and then check startup.txt where the run process went awry.
Other then that, reinstall GZDoom and Doom2.wad into a clean directory and see what happens, and let us know.

Just to make sure, you did install into a clean directory, by which I mean a directory with nothing in it? As Eriance suggested, which version
of DirectX are you running? If you have an older version, then upgrade to 9.0c!
And after that, what happens? What do you see on the screen?
The normal process would be, that GZDoom then cycles through the title and credits screens. At which point you hit Enter to see the menu.
One of the things that Windows ME is extremely good at is, that it collects all kinds of garbage files which it does not get rid off on its own.
A freeware program called CCleaner (which stands for Crap Cleaner), see http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ , does an excellent
job to get rid of these files and it also can resolve various issues. Get it from http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ and run it.

I reinstalled it in a new directory, it worked once, then I restarted the computer and it busted again.
I have DirectX 9.0c.
As for what's on the screen when it freezes, in the background is the titlepic and in front it says:

On the line just above V2.0.99R20 (1.0.04), but on the left hand side, do you have a square bracket with a flashing cursor?
If yes, then pressing the ~ or ESC key, should get you to the menu.
If no, then I would think that either you have a video hardware problem or the driver for your video card needs to be reinstalled
or updated. Since you have a PCI card, updating seems the more likely route to follow. Download the latest drivers from NVIDIA.

I don't believe there is a Geforce 3 PCI card... this might mean that you have yet to install the AGP GART on your system.
It also looks like the driver you are using is very very old and possibly not installed properly. I'm pretty sure the GL version of the newer version has a GL version of at least 1.3 (most likely 1.4, and probably 1.5).
It is recommended that you uninstall the older drivers via Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.. reboot and then install the newer drivers... and reboot again.

I updated the drivers to the latest version, I have DirectX 9.0c, and it still doesn't work!
