Skybox virgin

It's me again. I looked up skybox in the ZDOOM wiki and couldn't come up with anything I could make sence of.

What I'd like to learn (and I'm fully new to this part), is how to make a hi-res skybox out of 4 or 6 textures.

I have the pictures and what not ready to go, I just need a step by step guide with example wad or something.

Anyone know of a good link?

I mean I'm really really clueless. I've looked at that documentation on countless occastions, but I don't get this skybox stuff at all!

I downloaded a skybox example set off the forums here....

...tried to experiment with them, but when ever I replaced one of the PNG's inside the WAD file...

...that sky would then come up as pure black in the game. I'm definatly missing something. :)

Oh ya as a point of note, all that link features is how to set up your images in PSP, there is NOT a thing about how these things are actually made.

Enjay had made some nice example pwads with just the skybox.

Take a look at them, in particular how the contents of the text lumps relate to each other.

Ya that's the one I was talking about. I downsized a few textures to the same size as those in the WAD. Used the replace feature in XWE, and when I saved it then loaded it up in DOOM the skies that I replaced became black.

I just need a simple guide that starts a step one. ZDOOM wiki and all that stuff are primers for people who already have a clue, I am clueless, help me. :)

What happens when you you use Delete and Load (raw data) instead of Replace ?
Or, maybe, you could use Replace (raw data) !

...then when you finally figure it out, it ends up being REALLY simple!

Well I'm not expecting Bex to be so easy, but man, this was real easy, thankx a lot, I'm on my way!
