Hybrid was rejected because it isn't one. Still gzDoom is the most serious attempt to support about any usefull thing the doom community has developed.
What about the name Doom: Unity?
I think we have enough "re-s" by now with all the "reborns", "revised" and "reloaded" stuff right now. And things that have a reference to time like "legacy" and "eternity" are already taken. There are also other GL ports of our favorite game. So why not choose something that points at what makes this port unique and realy rise above the rest?
And with Unity as a name, it would clearly be a sign towards the other developers that Graf does not want to steal their work nor make it obsolete but is putting it together in one project for the benefit of the community.

Finally a sensible suggestion. But I tnink it implies too much.
For once, I have no plans to support everything available.
Although it runs Vavoom maps there is still some need to alter the WAD due to incompatibilities, mostly in MAPINFO.
Legacy doesn't have any definition lumps yet so it is somewhat easier but I'm quite sure that for Legacy 2.0 projects it won't be that easy anymore. I doubt I'll ever be able to implement full 1.4 compatibility. Large parts of it are just too different from ZDoom.
It's a sad fact that the major ports have grown apart quite far and I really don't see much of a chance of any real unification on whatever scale. I did what I could but it seems the only thing I can continue to do is to make sure that all Legacy and Vavoom maps being released continue to work. Even that won't be easy.
