Beta testers for FraggleScript needed!

Post by Graf Zahl »

I think I can release a first test version with FraggleScript this weekend. Of course in such a short time I won't be able to test it properly.

This means I need 3 or 4 beta testers who are willing to thoroughly play a few WADs to see whether all works correctly. Some scripting or programming experience is welcome but not absolutely necessary.

The WADs I'd like to have tested are:

-Nimrod
-Hi-Tech Hell
-DSV4 Legacy version
-DSV4 Eternity version
-Icerial 2

If anyone knows some Legacy WADs with non-trivial FS scripting feel free to post them here. The more test material I have the better.

In the /idgames archives. Look in doom2/ports/megawads. The file is called DSV4_rvltinE.zip.

So long as you don't have to know FraggleScript, or we have to compile the source to test it, I'll do this. Sounds like fun.

If you could analyze incorrect behavior by looking at the scripts it'd help me much more but as I said - it isn't a requirement.

Some (crappy) legacy wads I made early in my mapping career (heh), that make use of FraggleScript:
Cyber Arena 3
Death Summoning
Sewer Terminal

I would, but Legacy refuses to run with me so I will almost definitely miss any minor breaks in FS.

I have already tested some of the more critical parts in Nimrod myself and so far it looks good. I have played through the first map, the last map, the first half of the second map and have solved the major puzzle in MAP07 so the important stuff appears to work.

I am mostly interested whether the maps are completable or show obvious glitches so direct comparisons aren't really necessary. I can barely run Legacy myself so I am in the same situation as you are.

Uber Test Material

Post by AlysiumX »

If you want some awesome test material, you can try doom tournament, in doom tornament2004 (which is a wad me, wadaholic, and Mr. Rocket worked on) we have scripted several new game types, You should especially try the ctf, Theres 883 lines of code just on the ctf alone. Might be a great test, :)

Count me in on the testing, i have a good knowledge of fragglescript so...

Eh, I was kinda iffy about signing up because I have no clue as to how fragglescript works. But if all you really need done is playtesting to make sure everything can be finished without errors, then I'll try it out.

And has anyone else noticed that things have slowed down a lot here? No more bug reports for a while, little discussion... Same seems to be going on at Zdoom... Things are slowing down, there, too... Odd.

Haven't had the chance to come by here for the past few days myself...

Anyway, if you need another person, count me in.

I'll probably stick mostly to High Tech Hell, as I have recently played as much of it as Legacy would allow me to (heh), so it's rather fresh on my mind.

Also here's another Legacy wad... I just remembered it, as it was one of the ones I reviewed when I did newstuff that one time.
