Please do not generalize Muslim people as terrorists. The people you see on your news everyday aren't Muslims; they're beasts and idiots. Islam never taught its followers to kill any living being at all, and definitely never told its followers to die for religion. That's all a load of shit.
It's sad because people are associating Islam with terrorism.
I'm a Muslim and I admit that it is a very beautiful and calming religion.
No offense taken from your message, but I just thought I'd throw in my two cents. Yes, that "hacker" is a son of a bitch. What a lame-ass.
Anyway, good to see GZW is finally up. Now to start filling it up with quality GZDoom wads!

I am very sorry, and you were intelligent enough to understand that there was no personnal offense, but that it was directed toward islamist extremist, the ones who are terrorist.
Peace!

During the course of the first 24h, GZW was visited 460 times. Not that bad for a beginning and a badly designed site, hey Tormentor667...
I like my site like it is, and I won't change its design.
I liked DLW like it was and like it is, and I won't change its design, and the quasi million of visited pages makes me think that my decision was the good decision.
I don't want to have a site like you see a loooooooot of sites on the net.
Mines are unique and will stay unique!!
And I repeat that we are (at DoomWadStation) hosted on a highspeed dedicated server...
Plus, the bandwidth used by DLW is incredibly heavy. So, I guess that it will be the same for GZW.

They are not good because they are unique, but they are unique because they are good AND because their design is unique.
Anyway, the number of visited pages, growing tremendously, is enough to prove that I'm on the good road...
When you want to go somewhere, using the car of someone else, are you used to ask him to change his car?!?
But you are right to ask him if he can change his destination or to carry you where you are pleased to go...
Clearly, do ask me to give to you some specific stuff, but to debate about my job of webmaster and the way I'm doing it is not in my mind nor my preoccupations.
This counter is NOT a counter of visitors, but a counter of LIFE and of activity!!!
I wrote: "... TIMES VISITED", and not "visitors".
I don't care to know how many visitors I have. I want to know how alive is my site.
And yes: GZW seems to be well alive.
Anyway, thank you a lot to take the time to give me your feelings about it. I highly appreciate such a feedback.
Feel free to comment more, if you are pleased to do it again. I'm listening you carefully, and I'll try to answer you point by point and to think about each of your comments.

Thanks God, could you say, I'm always at work on it, trying to offer more and more...Sir_Alien wrote:[the site] updates the count every time you change a page...

You're not listening to anything anyone is saying. You're getting defensive and ignoring criticism. And your argument about "not looking like every other doom page" is crap; ZDoom.org doesn't look like Doomworld, which doesn't look like DRD Team, which doesn't look like Serious Business... All of which are well designed sites that are easily navigable and easy on the eye. Unlike yours.
Your site is a mess:
Your site is a mess:
- The text isn't formatted well.
- Many aspects of the site look cheap and "thrown together".
- Several features are used "just for the sake of it" (why the hell do you have to move your mouse over a screenshot to see it? That's just asinine...)
- The colour scheme is hard on the eyes (what's with all the highlighting..?)
- The site is poorly organised; you have to get through three pages before you even get to any decent content...
- And your counter says "times visited". I don't care what you think you're trying to count, but to the general public that says "visitors" and right now the figure is innacurate. Besides, it's not even going to give you a decent indicator of activity: I myself have just gone back and forth between a few pages and reloaded the front page a couple of times... That's added something like 10 hits to your counter... Hardly an effective gauge of "life"...

It's hard to go wrong with the standard format.
Also, anybody who knows anything about GZDoom probably won't have much of a difficult time figuring out what "GZW" means. So the whole "text aka image" thing is pretty pointless. Why not just leave it in the title, and remove the text from the top of the page?

Well, while I agree with most of what they have said (Coloscheme, Highlighting), I would be quite happy with it if the 1st letter on every line on the top was Capitolized. Then again I capitolize words at random, so I might be a little OCD. I would have to say an Image or two rather than just the logo and then highlighted Text would make it a little easier on the eyes, but if your expecting some heavy traffic, it might be best to conserve your bandwidth for the things that really count . . . the downloads
Either way, good luck with it
Either way, good luck with it

I pretty much agree with Sir Alien. Now it's pretty easy to navigate the site, but with multiple wads one could get a finger ache from the mouse wheel from all the scrolling. Oh, and popup screens suck. They always had.
That said Jive oughta know, by now, that criticism may not necessarily be negative, and while the sacrifice of one's time to produce something for others is noble, everything, especially web pages, can be improved further.
And no offense, but the english seems rather godawful at some parts..
