Mattus' Guns reviewed as follows...

Katana - Shadow Warrior graphics, Hexen sounds, and an overall lack of fun. I don't like this one at all...

Ice Rifle - Kind of fun to use. The only thing that really bugs me is how the projectiles aren't offset so they actually look like they're coming from the gun instead of the player's mouth. I'd stick this under "Needs Improvement" - fix the projectile issues and you've got yourself a solid weapon.

Homing Missile Launcher - I've never understood the appeal of homing weapons - I barely even notice that it's homing, considering you have to aim directly at the monster for it to do any good (unless you have auto-aim turned on, at which point the homing is useless anyway). Take away the homing and the new graphics, and you pretty much have a clone of the Doom rocket launcher. In other words...I don't really like it.

Railgun - God, I am so sick of hearing the default ZDoom railgun sound. If you need more sounds, go download some mods for random first-person shooters (like Half-Life) and see what you can find. As for the weapon itself, it feels sluggish and uneven - perhaps it's the fact that the firing sound only plays once every two shots. Power is well-balanced, though - exactly the same damage-per-ammo as the plasma gun.

Plasma Propulsor - This one I'm rejecting pretty much on sight. It's just too damn powerful.

Summary:
Katana - rejected
Ice Rifle - Needs Improvement
Homing Rockets - rejected
Railgun - Needs Improvement
Plasma Propulsor - Rejected

I have now removed you from the Blacklist. You are free to submit more weapons.

Theshooter7 wrote:Hey, I have some small submissions, but first, a couple of questions:

1.If anyone remembers, LWM Made a Grapling hook a while ago for the old WRW. I was wondering if I could submit that, but with my modification (A few bug fixes, really. Such as no insane lag when fired at the floor, and you can use multiple hooks)
As long as you have permission from LWM herself.
2.Do sprites have to be "Professional Looking"? I don't mean bad graphics, but something cartoony like the ICD-Lizard Sprites. Are those accepted?
These weapons are intended to be used by people in their own maps. Your graphics don't necessarily have to be the worlds greatest, but cartoony stuff probably won't make it into the wad.

Okay. Guess I'll open up the old PhotoShop and see what I can do...

Oh, and do Recolors count as modified sprites? That has actually gotten me for a while now.

One final question. If I were to, say, recolor (This is kinda a conjunction to my other question) the ICD Grenades, would that be still an insta-reject? Just curious before I start submitting.

don't rip anything we've seen hundreds of thousands of times before without modifications
You won't be rejected, so long as there's evidence that you actually tried to make the graphic different. As for recolors: Why wouldn't they count? My own Skorpion was a recolor...

I've been busy with some other stuff these days (and no, it's not just my other mods). I'll get to the icewand later.

Ahaha, surprise! I got a bit bored-ish, so I threw something together... seeing that you needed some pistol weapons, and Marty's Fallen Eagle seems a bit underused, I took the liberty of hacking together a little something. :P

Alt-Fire is reload, code based on stuff from Zero Prophet's crazy weapon wad.

Ignore the date on the file, too... I've got my system clock set back a year for purposes of infinite PSP7 usage. :P

Only thing I gotta say about infinite PSP7 usage is "Break their backs!" Or is that crack... whatever.
