I just happened to remember a little deathmatch variation I tried playing a while ago in Quake III, and I figured I had better tell somebody before I forget it again.
The name of the game is "suicide deathmatch", and it is actually quite fun.
One player volunteers to be "suicidal". This player never uses any weapons, and must stay alive for ten seconds. After this ten second period is up, the suicidal player must commit suicide by jumping over a cliff, setting off and explosion next to himself, or something like that, earning himself -1 to his frag count. Meanwhile, it is the goal of the other player(s) to frag the suicidal player before he gets a chance to commit suicide.
The first player to reach 10 frags wins. If the suicidal player reaches -10 frags however, he wins.
It really is great fun, and often the most fun belongs to the suicidal player.
Give it a try.
