From what I can tell the gun is pointed too much to the left (too angled). Just shift it in XWE/Slumped to the right of the screen. The perspective isn't skewed or anything.

I'm not really following this mod's progress, just stopped to bump in. It would be really awesome for these mods IMO if Lizardcommando utilised (learned?) cel shading of his graphics. They would remain being cartoony in the good way, but would lose that "MSpaint" effect. ATM IMO their style doesn't blend well with the realisticness of the surrounding textures. But I'm sure you heard that a million times ;)

As a matter of convincing I've made a mockup and celled that screenshot up there you posted. What do you think about such style, Liz? Maybe you could incorporate it? Does it look any better in your eyes?

Oh man, I wish I could do some cel-shading stuff... 3D-stuff anyways. I tried to a long time ago, but it sucked. That mock up looks pretty cool, but it just doesn't feel the same. I dunno. I'm not sure how to explain it.

Playing ICD-Lizard with GLEDGE did make it a bit more Cel-shady and cartoony.

I want to eventually replace the textures, but that would take way too long. I want to finish with the enemies first and then decide what to do after that. Unfortunately, that'll probably take a while to do so as well. I'll be remaking most of the old enemies and add in some new enemies as well.

Well, you just need some time to raise your drawing ability. See, if you want to make a gun in five minutes, there will be nothing but pure crapiness. But if you take time into something, then there will be really great things. Some have this ability since their first day of life, and some have to learn it, and I have to learn it, because I'm not born with this ability. A year ago I couldn't properly draw a stickman, but today I can draw almost perfect guns (ALMOST!!). And you just have to learn it then

@Liz - that's understandable. I was merely proposing a different style, not a better one. Your Lizard mods as they stand right now are very fine I applaud to your ability to stand strong with your mods' style despite some bad comments of those who dislike it's style. I personally think it isn't bad, it's just different from Doom's, and how you accept its differences rather than please the masses deserves a nod :)

I really have to disagree with that. You can learn drawing as easily as you could learn riding a bike or handling sushi sticks. Perhaps some people do make it to art with no technical/scientifical material by during their early life. Well I would explain that as proper self-teaching. They can understand perspective, shading and all that without further ado from a teacher or a book. Such people are rarities really. Wether you wish to learn technical aspects of art or not depends on you really and how well you can, or want to, express your imagination in our world.

Yeah I know. What I actually meant was that they're like born with the ability, just a few months ago I saw a man in a TV-Show. His first words he learned were "Pencil" and "Drawing". He drew better than any other child in his class, it's just like born with the ability (AFTER he learned this to use good, no baby can draw on it's first day (duh, obvious, don't think I'm stupid ) but after it learns to use drawing-tools correctly, which takes at least maybe four-five years, THEN you can say he's like born with this ability ) The point is that they can draw better than any other people in their age, because they've got the ability to. This "first day of their life"-sentence is easily misunderstand able, so you wouldn't get the real point of what I actually mean. It would be rather silly to see a baby, like one-two days old and see it using a pencil perfectly to draw a city perfectly.

I agree, they still have to learn it, but it doesn't take as much time as the ones which don't have this rare ability. It's actually the humans imagination, too. They can't learn it properly without knowing what they do, but actually my point was that these rare people must have this imagination. It's just a bit hard to explain it properly.

I'm much more into animation rather than drawing, really. I like making Flash movies and I'd be making more right now if it weren't for the fact that I'm using this POS old ass computer that can barely run Skulltag, and that's just using Software rendering! >_<

It runs ZDoom fine though.

As far as critisism goes, I'm all for it. Good or bad, I don't care. The only important thing is that as long as you PLAYED it, then you can critisize it as much as you want.

Anyways, I finished making that announcer-pack for Skulltag. It's far from perfect though since it's pretty buggy. Read the txt file for more info. It's hosted on Geocities unfortunately, so if you get that bandwidth error, try again later.

I decided to go back and finish the Heli-Lizard for The Exterminator. I'm done with the graphics and I just started the coding. What I need to know is how do I have it so that it always plays a sound (in this case, it's a helicopter sound) when it's moving around? You know how the Cyberdemon and Spider Mastermind play that stomping noise when it's moving? How do I have that for Heli-Lizard?

This forum has become awfully slow as of late. I have little knowledge of DECORATE, but I think the answer lies in this code:

Code: Select all

SPID A 3 A_Metal
    SPID ABB 3 A_Chase
    SPID C 3 A_Metal
    SPID CDD 3 A_Chase
    SPID E 3 A_Metal
    SPID EFF 3 A_Chase
Now, I have a question for you, LizardCommando, I was wondering if you'd ever finish Pokestein Redux? I would understand if this wasn't even on your mind, what with all that you've been working on so far

Hey Visplane. I already found a fix for that problem. I just used the A_PlaySound thing. It works alright.

As for Pokestein Redux, I only have the first two episodes finished. I'm not even halfway done with it since I don't have anyone to code for it. I didn't even start making levels for it. It's on an indefinate hiatus until I can find someone who can code for it. I would try asking people at this one site (it's the only active Wolf3D editing site) but they have this oh-so-fucking-ridiculously-stupid rule about 3rd party emails (Yahoo, Hotmail, GMail, etc.). I don't even know if I'm ever going to get back to working on that thing. If I do ever decide to go back to it, I'll probably have to get rid of the custom weapons and enemies just to make things easier on me.

Damn. Well, that's a shame =/ I was always looking forward to that mod. Maybe after I finish my studies and work, I'll try to learn the code. Maybe :P

Development for my ZDoom weapons mod The Exterminator has pretty much grounded to a halt. I'm not even halfway done with the Mech enemy's walking animations. I got sick of working on it so I decided to try working on a new enemy, which is a Heavy Machinegunner that will replace the Arachnotron. I'm not even done with that guy's first set of sprites...

I'm sure I'll get back to work on this thing eventually. I just need to be inspired again...
