BlackMarsh for GZDoom

Post by Drake Raider »

I am working on a hub for gzdoom which recreates the first hub of H2. I have finished a demo, and am looking for help in finishing it. The demo is attached.

It appears as though your attachment did not take hold.

Curious; why are you porting maps from a newer engine to an older one? If it's what I think, I'd definitely be interested in seeing it. But it would be very difficult to pull off a project that big.

I suspect that it's because the author wants to produce something for a DooM-based engine, while taking advantage of GZDooM's 3D and GL features to recreate things from the newer game.

These are precisely why I am making my current mod, Paranoid, which is based on Half-Life.

Dang! I can't wait till that's done. I've always really liked Half-Life.

I'm sorry, could anyone tell me how to attach something then? I apparently
do not know the correct way.

If it were me, I'd not use the forum's attachment feature and use a service like Sendspace instead.

I just remembered to say that if you can't get at the weapons, type the name of your current player class in the console as a command, and your weapons will be bound to the h,j,k,l keys. I haven't had any luck trying to bind them to numbers.

EDIT: I just played it through, but the class name commands didn't do anything. You will have to bind keys on your own.

Give it time. People don't live on the forums.

Okay, new version of the demo finished.
-Famine has a boss bar and a entirely new level.
-New Enemy: Spiders. Only gold and giant gold are currently accessible.
-Skull(aka Blood) Wizards spawn spiders when they die.
-Knights,( both archers and commanders,) are more H2-like.
-Shadow Wizard added.

I am now working on the full version,(H2 levels 1-9,) and I have a few things that I would like to add that H2 did not have, I would like to know if these would be good additions.
Here's a list:

-Strife-style NPC's.
-More variation in enemy attacks.
-A secret level.

Please respond, I would like feedback on these three points.

I guess they are good ideas. The lack of npcs is one of the only RPGish elements that hexen II didn't have

I am not a very good sprite artist, but if NPC's will be added, the sprites I would need, and wouldn't be able to do my self,(very well at least,) are as follows:

Tyranith-A knight archer with no helmet, face looks sort of like Macil's.

Miller-Strife-style peasant with a flail.

Alchemist-Looks like the mage, but no hood. Peasant-style face.

Priest-Looks like a human version of the men worshiping the oracle in Strife(no blue skin  ).

Court Citizen-Strife-style peasant, only wears fancy robes.

Peasant-See Strife.

Anton's Fiancee-Female character in Strife peasant clothes.

Note: only the Peasant and Court Citizen NPC's will be capable of movement.

Is there anyone willing to make sprites for these characters?
