Back to the subject at hand i think that morpehus' "crappy" attmept is rather fetching...

the border around the letters really helps it stand out, good color too.

As for souldpriestess' two submissions. The first one looks empty without that shiny glare, but the second one is superb!

Guys, you're all trying too hard... here, the ultimate GZDoom logo:





Seriously though... criticism time! I think a lot of these "logos" reek too much of n00b Photoshoppery... simply because of the generic and overused filters and effects. I'm sure anyone who's done a little bit of design would know what I mean.

SP's earlier designs, however are much cleaner... as someone has already said in this thread, less is more.

(And god please none of those ugly lens flares... it screams n00b!)

That's my favourite one so far. I like its simplicity and subtlety. I like the fact that the letters are slightly separate and uniformly spaced. I like the fact that they are a uniform size. I like the Doom2 texture being used for the texture in the letters.

@baghead Those are quite cunning logos. I guess that my reservation about them is that the Z is very clear but the G and D ar very subtle, almost to the point that it takes a while to realise that they are a G and a D. So, it promotes the Z but less so the other letters.

Mind you, it could just be me. It was only a few months ago that I realised (after having it pointed out to me) that the UAC logo used on textures and flats in the game actually contains a stylised U, A and C so perhaps I'm not best placed to comment on such things having stared blindly at that logo for 15 and a half years.
