Too fast!

Post by nathan323 »

Howdy all.

Ive always used Doomsday. I tried out GZDoom recently to make work all the wads id been missing out on. I love it! Graphics great, love the alternate HUD where u can see all ammo!

But only drama is its too fast! The gameplay is a lot faster than it is on Doomsday, is this normal? Either way, is there a way to slow it down? I checked through the options in-game, couldnt find anything..

Thanks for any help!

It shouldn't be. Like all other Doom ports it still uses the same 1/35th second timing.

Yeah, pretty much what Graf said.

If the problem is that things are too smooth and fluid for you, try bringing down the console (normally the ~ key), and type in: "cl_capfps true".

What GZDoom actually does do is interpolate movements between every tic, and that can and sometimes does result in a somewhat sickly feeling for certain people.

Doomsday does that, too.

ok thanks for replies.

I tried the console command "cl_capfps true", thre gameplay stayed just as fast, but now jerky, so i turned it back off.

It's definetly quicker. Even when im still, the fireballs still come at me much faster. i could kinda see getting used to it, more challenging, but the the problem translates to the sensitivity of the controls - i cant aim as accurately because it moves too fast. is there a way to decrease sensitivity in controls?

How much faster? Have you also checked a few other ports to see which one is not correct?

All modern ports are native Windows applications. Boom is still from the DOS area.
