Looking very nice indeed. The three shots of the Xen castle-like structures are a wonderful example of being very clearly Xen, but also your own interpretation of that alien world.

Thanks, Boss. Because the original HL didn't really show Xen "buildings", I took some liberties with the architecture.

On a related note, the Xen skybox is from the unused resources in the HL game disk. But, while they are clearly alien, they seem a little washed out to me. Therefore, I'm open to using other (more dramatic) alien skies.

I used to have a huge collection of skyboxes, but a HD crash (years ago) lost them for me. I got them via google searches though, so there are probably still plenty out there.

That being said, I like the idea of using the originals. If they are too washed out, however, it might be possible to fix that with a bit of tweaking to the colour balance, contrast and brightness of the images in an image editor of some description.

I'll let you be the judge on whether or not the alien sky seems washed out. If the sky is acceptable to you I'm fine keeping things the way they are.

From the screenshots the answer is "maybe." They do look as if they are potentially a bit pale pastel-coloured.

I'm certainly happy to look at the images and try a few different adjustments on them to see if they can be made a bit darker/more vibrant. It wouldn't take long to do something like that. So, if you didn't like the results, it wouldn't be a big deal.

And on an unrelated (but related) note: This thread have been viewed 63,247 times as of March 3, 2025. I find that to be highly suspect. (Nigel, please stop hitting "refresh" continuously on this page. Heh!)

EDIT: It's 63,374 views as of March 4. That's a jump of almost 130 views, which this site normally tends to get over a period of a month. Something in this thread (and, possibly, this site) is a bot-magnet.
