Things on 3d floors

How to get things end up on a 3d floor? and not the "actual" floor. I believe tagging it to a sector number or something would not do the job because it needs to be placed somewhere, unless you place it over the actual floor and then tag it and it gets visible on the right spot on the 3d floor?
