r137 Very thin 3D floors can still splash

Post by Enjay »

Further to this [Fixed] bug:

http://forum.drdteam.org/viewtopic.php?t=3316

If the 3D floor is very thin, it is still possible to get splashes on a 3D floor. Id say that with the SSG it happens about 1 in 3 times and usually if you are firing at a fairly shallow angle (ie firing at a point on the floor that is quite far away from where you are standing).

I've uploaded a modified version of the test WAD that was in that thread and also included a demo of me getting the splashes (sometimes). It's demo1.lmp so just load the zip and wait for the title screen to change.

It may be a rare enough occasion to not bother with: thicker floors don't seem to cause a problem, but there you have it.

I can't fix this because the puff spawning code messes around with the coordinates so I never get a proper position for the puff.

I hope it's better now. I changed it so that the splash coordinate dosn't need to be the same as the actor's position. This needless dependency was the source of all this trouble,
