Translucent Water

Post by Whoo »

I've been trying to find out how to make translucent water but can't find a single answer. So does anyone here know?

You mean when you look into the pool of water you can see whatever is below the surface? If so. make your water using a 3D floor with a translucency value of less than 255 (255 is full opacity).

Ah so it does require 3d floors. Guess I should've waited before I asked on the Zdoom forums. xD Thanks alot!

Can't you also do a floor portal? I know that's a trick that *looks* like 3D floors but it works in ZDoom...

I keep forgetting about portals. Portals would work in a number of circumstances but because the view through the portal isn't really where it appears to be, the effect can be more limited (as well as there being other limitations to portals). The big plus of the 3D floor method is, of course, the the 3D floor is actually there, right where it appears to be.

Of course, if you don't want a GZdoom specific WAD, then 3D floors are out of the question.

Yes, I was wanting this to work for Zdoom as well, so I need something other than 3d Floors.
