[1.2.01] WTF? : Frequency Out Of Range

Post by lernatix »

Hi guys, I don't know where else to turn.

I downloaded GZDoom 1.2.01 and loaded it with the Strife .Wad
- the game loads a small console window ok and then goes full-screen.

When going full-screen, I can hear the game running but my monitor
gives a 'Frequency Out Of Range' error.

Could someone please post any tips as to what to write into the .ini
file so that I can change my "refresh rate" (or whatever) so I can see.

I think it's trying for like 137khz, looking for 60 I think.
The existing "zdoom-*MYNAME*.ini" file is blank.

Thank you in advance.

The engine tries to get the optimal refresh rate from the system. Sometimes it happens that a monitor does not play by the rules and sends incorrect information to the system.

In such a case you need to set the refresh rate manually.

You need to add '+vid_refreshrate 60' (or any other value you know to be working) to the command line when starting the game for the first time.

Thanks Graf, I copy/pasted an .ini file from another thread and got it working.

Obviously that .ini file had "+vid_refreshrate 60" in it.

Thanks for the reply, I ended up disliking Strife but at least I can play
heaps of other mods and vanilla on GZDoom. Awesome work on GZ btw.

Cheers.
