New video card: First report

Post by Rex Claussen »

In this thread I had asked for recommendations for a new graphics card. I ordered one, it arrived yesterday, and installed it today. It works like a dream, and I can finally see what the fuss with brightmaps is all about. GZDooM runs blindingly fast on my computer now, and the visuals are spectacular.

More details afte I've run benchmarks, etc.

What did you end up getting? Was it the GT240?

Indeed. It is the PALIT NE5T240SFHD01 Geforce GT 240 Sonic OverClocking Edition 1GB GDDR5, and I can finally see brightmaps in Paranoid. Damn! they look good. Many thanks for all your efforts, Nigel.

Glad you like 'em. :)

Presumably the installation went easily enough - plenty of room in the case etc.
