Up-to-date Win32 FluidSynth binaries?
Any idea where to find them?

Nope, fluidsynth-1.1.2.zip does not contain any binaries.

That's not what I linked you to. The download link in that thread is to a file named fluidsynth.7z. And it contains fluidsynth.dll.Sussudio wrote:fluidsynth-1.1.2.zip

I don't have a sound card that natively supports soundfont so unpacking that dll alone doesn't seem to be doing the trick, and the .sf2 files, where do I put them? I'm lost here.

You can put them wherever you want but you have so set a CVAR to link to them.

Thanks, that was it, zdoom.ini's "fluid_patchset" entry, unfortunately the framerate becomes choppy right after the music starts playing. Is this any normal? right now I'm testing GeneralUser_GS_1.43-FluidSynth.zip (fairly mediocre set by the way)

FluidSynth is a CPU hog. If you don't have a multi-core processor you will notice it.
