GZDoom and Heretic

Post by NightFright »

Two questions:

1) There seem to be minor alignment problems with some highres fonts/icons in the Heretic HUD (alternate and normal). When using the highres pack from this site, the health/armor numbers are shown about middle of the left edge of the screen instead of down below near their corresponding icons (when using alternate GZDoom HUD). Also, the elapsed time (red numbers) would not be properly aligned on the automap (alternate GZDoom HUD). When using normal HUD, the ammo icons would float somewhere on the left side of the screen as well instead of being placed in the HUD itself. No idea if this is a GZDoom issue or some problem with the highres pack, but the included fonts seem fine to me.

2) When finishing a level, there is no intermission screen. Also, when finishing an episode, the game would directly go to the first map of the next episode. Is there a way to get the old behavior back, i.e. with intermission screens (at least for the first 3 eps), plus you have to select the next episode manually after ending the previous one?

- Regarding the normal HUD and the status bar, please report a bug at the ZDoom forum. That code is Blzut3's responsibility and the error is the same in ZDoom.
- I'll have a look at the alt HUD later. This also happens in ZDoom.
- For the intermission screens, they work for me. You must be loading something that alters the MAPINFO definitions.

OK, I have reported the issue here: http://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=27530

As for the other problem, I have used the "Heretic++" mod which indeed included a MAPINFO file. It does not seem to be really required to run the mod, it's just for smooth episode transition. Removing it didn't break anything apparently, but the normal level/episode ending behavior has been restored. :)

*EDIT*
I see this has already been addressed in r1051. Really fast, thanks for this! Now waiting for the SVN build to be compiled so I can check it... ^^
