Quick Request: AltHud2?

Post by BlackFish »

I was thinking of a hud simular to the UT ones (mainly ut2004) with the weapons across rather than vertical and the health on the bottom and armor on the top (rather than the other way around, when armor's on bottom and health's on top).

If you want a screenshot I can get one.

I second that. I think the HUD on on the UT's has got to be the most efficent I've seen in a while. It definently gets the job done right.

Also add a damn translucency option. I have had it with trying to see the icons on the AltHud. The whole near invisible crap with the icons as is brings the ALtHud down severly.

Whilst we are on about the althud (which I personally love, and the althudcf lump works great too) I noticed a slight oddness. If you have the althud set to scale, it is proportionally smaller in 640x480 than it is in higher resolutions. It looks like it's not being scaled at all in 640x480 actually.

@Enjay: That's because scaling from 640x400 -> 640x480 looks like shit no matter how much texture filtering you apply.

As for the initial suggestion: Request denied. Why should I add yet another HUD?

Why not just discontinue support for 320x240 and 640x400? Both are too low of resolution, to me.

Correct me if I am wrong but I do believe all modern games still support those resolutions. So why should Graf break tradition? Hmm?

There's no point in adding code to block these resolutions - as useless as they are.

Graf's alternative HUD for GZdoom. You can enable it in display options and cutomise which items appear and which sprites are used for the items using a lump called althudcf. As well as that, it will put up an ammo count for any and all types of ammo relevant to the game and WADs loaded - including newly defined decorate ones and show you little icons for any wepons you may be carrying.

The althud works great but the only thing I do not like is that when you load something like the wrw.wad its hard to see with all the weapons going up the side.
